Tile Showers

For more information on Schluter Systems products please click on the link. We will not build a tile shower using anything else.

If you are interested in a custom tile shower you are at the right place. A tile shower must not only look good, it has to be functional. In other words, it should dry out quickly.
Most importantly, this all starts with waterproofing directly under the tile using Schluter Systems products. Above all, this system must be correctly installed before the tile is ever set. During my career, I have seen many tile showers that remained damp, had mold, grout problems, and even leaked, all because they were never waterproofed. Therefore, using Schluter Systems products I can assure you that this will not happen with our showers.
Below is a steam shower I built several years ago. KERDI-BOARD  and membrane were used to provide a vapor and waterproof barrier from floor to ceiling. I can not stress enough that water proofing is everything when it comes to a tile shower.
Here are some examples of the importance of waterproofing. Hence, on the left, a shower where the client had called about re-grouting. After a few questions I discovered that this would be the third time the shower was re-grouted. Fresh grout will not fix the problem. Therefore, upon demo, it was very clear what had caused the grout problems. The tile was installed on cement style backer board, no waterproofing was done. The water that penetrated the tile kept it damp. Thus, it provided the perfect environment for the mold that lurked under the previous tile. Rotted wall studs and the decayed subfloor were also removed. The shower you see was only about 3 years old. Between the cost of the original shower, demo, and new shower, this just may be the most expensive shower in Hardy county. On the far right is the new Schluter Systems shower, still going strong, many years later!
Below are pics of a properly prepped shower, ready for tile, and the finished product beside it. The prep work includes Kerdi-board, a tile ready niche, corner bench, pan & curb. The only non Schluter product used was the Durock backerboard used in the ceiling.
The finished product features Florida Tile wood look porcelain tile planks, a pebble floor, and is trimmed with Schluter Rondec in brushed nickel finish. The home owner picked up the pebbles we used right there on the property. It all added up to a one of a kind work of art!
